Our Purpose

Every church needs to have a purpose statement that answers the question, “why do we exist?” At Southpointe Church, we filter every idea, program, and budget request through our purpose statement. If what we plan doesn’t help us meet our purpose, then we don’t do it.

Our purpose at Southpointe Church is summarized in a single statement:

“To Love God & Love People”

Our statement of purpose is based on the teachings of Jesus:

Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart…soul…and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:36-40)

WHY WE EXIST AS A CHURCH

The vision of Southpointe Church is derived from one of Jesus’ most important statements:

OUR VISION – The Great Commission
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.  And be sure of this:  I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  Matthew 28:19

– Based off of this scripture, the vision of Southpointe Church is to reach, teach and show people how to live for Christ.

OUR MISSION – The Great Commandment
Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”  Matthew 22:37-40
